“Based on the results of the 2022 Population and Housing Census, the Register is expected to have 34,746,638 voters from 29,754,699 in 2020, this is an increase of 5,586,433 new voters equal to 18.7 percent,” said Judge Mwambegele. He added that in the exercise, 4,369,531 voters are expected to improve their information and 594,494 voters will be removed from the register for losing their qualifications to be voters. Regarding the number of polling stations, Judge Mwambegele has said that the Commission carried out a review of voter registration stations in 2023 where after the exercise it was decided that the number of polling stations that will be used for the improvement of the Register is 40,126.
